Sandalwood in the heart of the West Australian Wheatbelt
The Yawlerin Creek Sandalwood (YCS) plantation is located in the heart of the West Australian Wheatbelt. The plantation was inspired by a desire to conserve a rich part of Western Australia’s history. The Santalum spicatum species is naturally occurring in the southern two thirds of Western Australia. There is strong demand for sandalwood products both domestically and internationally for it’s use in religious and cultural practices, incense, perfume, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products.
Muntadgin Gin.
WISE distillery in Eagle Bay WA recently released a new series of gin as part of their Outback Gins Project. Master distiller Greg Garnish travelled 4,500km around the great Gin towns of Western Australia, beautiful country towns all with ‘Gin’ in their names, to source incredible indigenous ingredients to flavour each gin. Greg visited Steve and Michelle at Yawlerin Creek Sandalwood and decided to make their sandalwood the hero of his Muntadgin Gin.
